webdev rush

so i got thrown back into webdev work a few days ago, after i decided to look at my website at work. i realized i could use placeholder images for missing stuff and then carry on with the rest of the site as usual! this actually helped a lot as i was able to breeze through a few pages!
it felt cathartic being able to see more pages get filled after not picking up the hobby for a few months!

as it stands now, the goal is to finish the current iteration of the site by mid september! i want to get it out of the way before i go to small press expo, primarily due to the fact that i haven't updated my site since october 2024, and want to have a place to direct people to should they ask!
(i'm also considering weening myself off of carrd so everything is in one spot, so there's that)

i only have a handful of pages i wish to complete before i update again, though i have a few that i need to finish art for :'D considering my stamina for art, i'm going to try to see where i can reuse art if possible.
i've remade the entire website from scratch! so i'm very excited to finally have it out there and continue building off of it in the future (some back pages and odds and ends won't be added, just because i dont have an idea of how i want them yet/ need to allocate all the sources together for image/art based pages! because of this, the art zone will unfortunately still be inaccessible. but before i finish up to upload the new site, the framework should be done!).

here's what the home page looks like! symliadoo 2025 homepage (as you can see, i originally planned on releasing it in april lol)
some of it is the same, and some of it is different 🤗
i removed the cbox for one, mostly because it doesnt show up sometimes with adblock. but also because i wanted to move everything to my guestbook!
i really wanted to just have better code practices so i can have it organized for later, like trying not to lean too heavily on javascript (though i do have some for mostly the index)
i also attempted to try to be accessibility compliant, so the link colors for example, are underlined green so i can still have green links without it not being in compliance with contrast guidelines.
i also tried to make the back end more semantic so it should be picked up on reader views (i'll most likely be testing this to make sure that it can be applicable on as many pages as it can be). plus, i wanted a better site carbon rating lmao

its been nice being able to organize it in a way that actually makes sense to my brain, but also isnt so bloated that i get overwhelmed trying to organize everything! most standard pages will look the same outside of 'portals' if you will, that go to back parts of pages (like shrines, art pages, and other custom parts of the site)
i try to be super thorough with the site map so nothing gets lost! i hope it'll be fun to explore especially considering that it'll be my homestead on the web :>
