Note taking and productivity apps
As I try to slowly de-googleify my life (in the ways I can at least), I can't help but notice the plethora of note taking, note adjacent, and productivity apps I've attempted to use only to find no use for them
I think the only things I've been able to successfully use are Google Docs and Keep, Upnote (kind of) and Trello. Any other app (Notion, Obsidian, Milanote, etc etc etc) has just never worked well enough for me. Maybe my brain just doesn't work that way? Which kind of sucks because I see what type of systems some other folks have, and just haven't really been able to understand it!
While I'm a very visual learner, making mood boards was never my strong suit, so the idea of doing anything other than throwing a bunch of miscellaneous images I like on PureRef, making some sort of board with different visuals to get a specific vibe wasn't something that was my first thought. It's so silly!
I feel like Obsidian for example, would be something that would be malleable enough for me to figure out a way to use it, but because there's so many options, I often get lost in the sauce of its capabilities over figuring out what I can use it for! And because of that, it just makes it hard to leave the Google ecosystem 😭
It seems like when I do use an app, it's structured in a specific way that wasn't quite the intended purpose (using Trello for story writing using the kanban board). Even with Upnote, I kinda like it, but I feel like the limitations definitely make it more difficult for me to use it more outright (Like not having an archive/folder system, and the note system feeling a bit segmented amongst the notebooks, but this might just be a my brain thing)
I just think its funny that every time I encounter a new system I kinda just have to convince myself out of using it because more often than not, it doesn't work for what I need it for 😭
